SustainaBite mobile prototype showing a categorized pantry inventory

THE BRIEF

Make Sustainable Habits Easier to Act On.

SustainaBite explored how a mobile app could help households track groceries and plan meals with less waste. Within an academic team, I contributed UX research and design, helping connect user needs with the brand and interface direction.

MY CONTRIBUTION

My work included interviews and surveys, competitive analysis, personas, journey maps, identity exploration, wireframes, and high-fidelity interface prototypes. The project remained an academic design concept and was not coded or launched.

01 / Research

Start with the Habits Behind the Problem.

Research surfaced familiar barriers: relying on memory, buying more than needed, and losing track of food before it spoiled. Saving money and reducing waste were connected motivations. Personas and journey maps helped translate those patterns into design priorities.

Research synthesis expressed through a design persona.
A journey map connects household needs with opportunities for the proposed experience.

02 / The experience

Connect What Is on Hand with What Comes Next.

The interface concept brings grocery inventory and recipe suggestions into one experience. Clear categories and familiar navigation support the core task. More ambitious features, including scanning and impact tracking, remained proposed capabilities.

High-fidelity inventory prototype. Shown as a design concept, not a functioning app.
Recipe prototype connecting food on hand with meal planning.

03 / The identity

Make the Experience Approachable.

Muted greens, a friendly mark, and clear typography supported a practical, encouraging tone. The brand direction aimed to make the product feel useful and accessible as part of a household routine.

Identity concept for the academic project.

OUTCOME & REFLECTION

A Research-Informed Prototype, with a Clear Next Step.

The team developed a concept spanning research, branding, and interface prototypes. A next stage would test task completion and refine feature priorities with users before development. No launch, adoption, or food-waste reduction metrics are claimed.

Academic collaboration. Research, brand, and interface work shown reflects my contribution within the student team. The product was not coded or launched.
